March of Dimes Update

Registration is up on the right------->

Thank you for your participation!

DietBet

This past month I participated in a Diet Bet hosted by FitFluential.  I had a little set back during the month (more on that later), but today marked the end of my 4 weeks and I am happy to report that I did lose my 4% and am a official winner of the DietBet.  That means that I will split the $14,550 pot with all players who lost 4%.  That was one of the things I liked about this- you automatically get back whatever money you put in as long you lose your 4%....and if someone else doesn't lose their 4%, you get a bonus.  All of the players have not posted their final weigh ins yet, so when everyone has posted their final weights, I will know how many people I will be splitting the pot with.

Here's how the DietBet works....you choose your game, do an official weigh in, exercise, eat right, lose weight, and then do your final weigh in and win money!  Really, it's that easy!  There are instructions for your two official weigh ins (the beginning and end), but it is super easy to do.  Once you are in your game, there is a place for you to chat with other players, keep up with their progress (there is an option to have your weight hidden), and to encourage each other.

So, now that I've tried it out, I would like to host a game.  I created Running in Sanity's March Bet!  This game will have a $25 pay in, and as long as you lose 4%, you will get it (and possibly more!) back.  This game will start on March 1 and run until March 28.  I hope that if you are looking to lose weight that you will consider joining me!  And please share with your friends, it's great to have as much support as possible!  My goal would be for all of the players to meet their goal and end up getting their money back- we can be a great support to each other and make March a healthier month!

Sunday Meal Planning

This week I am trying to make meals that I know will have leftovers because I am headed out of town for a long weekend.

Monday-  Dinner out

Tuesday-  Turkey Meatloaf with Garlic Mashed Cauliflower

Wednesday-  Grilled Chicken and Baked Spaghetti Squash and Cheese- this time I am going to add broccoli and mushrooms to the spaghetti squash, we'll see if that makes it more appealing to the two who didn't like it as much last time.

Thursday-  Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes-  everyone liked these last time (which doesn't mean they'll like them again!), and I need a crock pot meal because it'll be a busy day.

Friday-  Pizza movie night for the family....something in Disney for me!

Saturday-  Skinny Tuna Noodle Casserole (leaving this for them to have while I'm gone

Sunday-  They're on their own :)

Next week's meal plan will also be shortened because I won't be back until late Tuesday night.  I'll leave some ideas, though my husband is more than capable when it comes to keeping the monkeys fed!

Registration Up for 5 Mile March for Babies!

Last year I had the privilege of walking with the Rockin' Moms Walkin' team to raise money for March of Dimes.  It was a great event and I really enjoyed packing up my four monkeys and taking them down to the walk with me.

This year it is a little bit different...the walk for March of Dimes is April 28, the same as Nike Women's Half.  I am still going to participate with my team this year, I will just be doing my five miles as a part of the half marathon :)

So, about that virtual!  This one is a little different- it is 5 miles and can be walked, run, skipped, crawled, whatever works for you!  The date is the same as the walk that is done at the oceanfront in Virginia Beach (April 28), but you can do it whenever it works for you!  Our team has a theme of hot pink and zebra print, so the medal will have both and also being offered is a zebra print happy band!  If you aren't sure what a happy band is, check them out here:  Running Happy

Here are the details:

~$20 gets you a medal (watch for the design soon!)
~$26 gets you a medal and zebra happy band:

*The last day to register is 3/30, medals and happy bands will be shipped prior to the event*

Thank you!

All of the medals for The Sweet Cupcake Race have been shipped out and are on their way to the homes of all of the participants.  We really appreciate all of the support that has been showed to us and to everyone who has participated in our events!  With your help, we raised $2000 with The Sweet Cupcake Race and with your help, and that put both myself and my running partner at Run Find your Happy Pace over our fundraising goal for Nike Women's Half!  This would not be possible without all of your support, so thank you!

Baked Spaghetti Squash and Cheese Review

This was really good, and honestly I was surprised at how much I liked it.  I wasn't really sure about it, even though the picture made it look yummy.  When I made it, there was a little more sauce, so I may have gotten squash that were a little too small, but it still came out very good.  We also had broccoli and sautéed chicken with it, so the broccoli was great to soak up some of that extra cheesy sauce.  You don't use a lot of cheese in the recipe, so I was pleasantly surprised at how cheesy it tasted.  The texture was a little different.  One of my monkeys said "Can't we just have real macaroni and cheese?"  This was after I told him that it would taste a little like macaroni and cheese.

As for the opinions of the house:  2 out of 2 adults liked it, and 2 out of 4 of the monkeys liked it, so I call it a success.  I will make it again, but I may sub out the spinach for mushrooms and broccoli.....we will see.

I've been back on track with running, I just haven't updated my moon jogger miles box, but I plan to do that soon.  Just a little over a week and I'll be on my way to my next half (and fun girls weekend!)
